There are a lot of "special days" throughout the year that I celebrate, because that's what we all do. I buy presents on birthdays and I dress up on Halloween and I drink alcohol on New Year's Eve. But I don't make resolutions. Maybe I'm just stubborn. Or maybe it's because, psychologically, making the resolution around a holiday like this seems like a way of saying "I know I'm doing things wrong, and I'll fix it... but I know by the end of the year, I'll be doing it all again." Instead, I just try to catch bad habits throughout the year, and try to change my lifestyle to counter those things. Like I went off my allowance system, thinking I could just track my spending and keep it in check and reap the cash reward from my credit card. But boy did I spend a lot in six weeks! So I'm back on allowance. And my weight isn't where I want it (OK maybe I'm contradicting myself here) and we're having a special "biggest loser" type competition called "Cut Back For The Cure" (raising money for ACS), so I'm going to the gym regularly (starting earlier this evening!) and keeping an eye on my calorie intake.
