How are you accomplishing your dream of being a writer and getting paid for it?
Do you write every day? Do you have a routine? If so, what is it?

I have no routine! This weekend I was driving home, and something I saw by the road got me thinking about ideas for a story. (Really it startled me!) I went to the holy internet and started researching the topic for some background and credibility. Then I listened to music or took a nap! And every once in a while, a scene would unfold in my head, so I'd jump up, grab the laptop, and start typing away. So far I wrote out two scenes, and I'm only happy with the first one. I put a lot of my ideas in the second one, and I feel the need to go back and pick out some less "conclusive" ideas and limit the scene to those things, because it will probably occur early in the story, and I don't want to give so much away. Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?! Anyway, I rarely write any fiction, and I haven't tried to write something of this magnitude and complexity ever before. It's exciting, but at the same time, I fee like all of my creativity is stifled during the week by all the other things I have to. Then again, it's only Tuesday, and I spent yesterday evening setting up new speakers in my living room and testing them out by watching Blade: Trinity!
