Emergency Information

Your emergency section contains important information for family members, sitters, and guests for a variety of emergency situations. Make sure sitters, nannies, aids, and family members all know about the emergency section of the notebook. Make sure that your emergency section contains at least the following information:
General Emergencies
- Your home address, telephone number, nearest cross streets, and directions to your home from major roads
- Reminder to call 911 in case of an emergency
- Phone number the poison control office (1-800-222-1222)
- Phone number for your local police
- Phone number for your local fire department
- Name, address, phone number, and directions to the nearest hospital emergency room
- Name, address, phone number, and directions to the nearest veterinarian emergency room
- Name and phone number of your alarm company (do not write your alarm code in the book)
Emergency Procedures - Fire escape plans
- Basic First Aid and CPR instructions
- Location of circuit breakers and how to reset breakers
- Location of gas main and how to shut off gas valve
- Location of water main and how to shut off water
Emergency Notification - Names and phone numbers of relatives, neighbors, family member's offices, etc.
Medical and Dental Information
- Name, address, and phone number of family doctor
- Name, address, and phone number of medical insurance company along with policy and group numbers
- Name, address, and phone number of family dentist
- Name, address, and phone number of dental insurance company along with policy and group numbers
- Name, address, and phone number of pharmacy
Property Emergencies - Name and phone number for property insurance agent and company along with policy numbers (auto insurance, renter's insurance, home owner's insurance, etc.)
- Names and phone numbers for utilities along with account numbers (electricity, gas, water, sewer, trash, recycling, phone, cable/satellite, etc.)
