Carbohydrates

There are three types of carbohydrates: simple carbohydrates, complex carbohydrates, and fiber.
Simple Carbohydrates = Sugar
Simple carbohydrates come in three forms: glucose, fructose, and sucrose.
Found in:
- Honey
- Saps (e.g. maple syrup)
- Fruits
- Non-starchy vegetables (e.g. green leafy vegetables)
- Milk products
are digested and absorbed quickly with little energy fast absorption causes spikes in your blood sugar to slow down the absorption of simple carbohydrates, eat it with fiber
complex carbohydrates=starch found in bread, cereal, rice, pasta, beans, and starchy vegetables (corn, potatoes, squash, etc.) take longer and require more energy to digest than simple carbohydrates
1/2 of your daily calories should come from carbohydrates
