Could I Be Pregnant? Question for Kristen
Updated July 28, 2007
I have irregular periods. My fiancé and I have been having unprotected sex for a while now. Last month my period came on the 7th (January). My cycles are usually longer than 28 days. I got my period on the 4th of Feb but it only lasted two days. it was regular bleeding. I'm worried because my nipples have gotten larger and darker, my breast are sore and bigger, I have been having headaches, and I have also had a lot of indigestion. I only felt nauseous once but my mate woke up a couple of mornings vomiting. do u think it is possible I may be pregnant. we had intercourse around the time I would have been ovulating since my cycle was 28 days. Please help I'm confused!! thanks

Allison,
If have to ask, you need to take a test. That's the only way to know for sure. The $10 - $20 you spend on that little stick will be some of the best money you'll ever spend. If it's positive, take a picture of the results and put it in the baby book for your bundle of joy to come. If it's negative, you can take a big sigh of relief (or cry, depending on what you're hoping for), but behave like a pregnant woman until you get your period just in case you weren't far along enough for the pregnancy test to show up positive.
By "behaving like a pregnant woman" I don't mean you should get overly emotional and pissed off at your partner for doing stuff he (or she if that be the case) normally does. Just don't drink or smoke, avoid taking any medication without talking to your doctor about how it could affect a potential pregnancy, and cut back on the caffeine. If you suddenly get your period, great! You can go back to your old habits are embark on a new healthy lifestyle. If you continue to retest and find out that you are indeed pregnant, great! You've successfully started this pregnancy the healthiest way possible.
If that pregnancy test keeps showing up negative, but you just don't get your period, go to your doctor to find out if there might be some other complication.
Just for the record, sore or tingling breasts are often the first symptom of pregnancy (those girls just know when it's time to prepare for work), so it could be possible that baby diapers are in your future.
