Reduce Pollution
Updated July 28, 2007
- Walk or ride your bike whenever possible.
- Use public transportation or carpool whenever you can't walk or ride your bike.
- Don't buy clothes that require dry cleaning.
- Buy organic food.
- Don't use bleached paper products (e.g. coffee filters, paper towels, napkins, writing paper, etc.).
- Use rechargeable batteries.
- Grow an organic garden.
- Find alternative ways to manage your landscaping instead of using pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides.
- Use the lowest octane gas possible in your car.
- Don't use chemical cleaners. Use items like baking soda and vinegar instead.
- Use reusable containers instead of plastic storage bags and plastic wrap.
- Buy locally grown foods. They don't need to be transported by planes, trucks, and ships very far, so they produce less air and water pollution.
