How You Can Stop Animal Abuse
Updated on October 13, 2007
"I don't abuse my animals."
Good. That's a start, but many of your daily actions could actually be causing innocent animals to be tortured beyond your most horrific nightmares.
Many of the products you use are made by companies that abuse animals. Even some of the charities you donate to may be torturing animals.
What could happen to animals because of your purchases?
Remember how much it hurt when you got shampoo in your eyes. You quickly rinsed it out. Now imagine what it would feel like if you couldn't rinse it out. Would you willingly pour shampoo into the eyes of a bunny or kitten, knowing that they would be writhing and screaming in agony? Would you do it repeatedly just to find out what would happen?
Remember how much it hurt when you burnt your finger while cooking. Would you willingly use a heat gun on your beloved Fido to inflict third degree burns that cover the majority of his body, knowing that he would suffer a hundred times more than you did when you got that little burn on your finger just to find out what happens?
Would you throw your pet bird into the wall, stomp on her, or rip her wings off just for fun?
Would you beat an animal to force it to entertain you? Would you force it to suffer just so you can watch it?
When you buy products or service from or donate to organizations that unnecessarily test on animals or don't handle their animals with respect, YOU are causing such horrific things to happen to innocent animals. Giving money to the abusers of animals makes you just as much of an accomplice of the act of torture as it would if you gave money to terrorists. Not knowing is not an excuse. You need to take responsibility for what you buy.
How to stop it.
One way you can stop animal abuse is to refuse to pay money to the abusers. Buy only products and services from cruelty-free companies and donate only to organizations that don't test on animals or use only humane animal research methods.
After you stop buying those products and services or sending in those donations, write the company and tell them that you are a previously loyal consumer / donor who will not buy their products / donate money until they permanently stop abusing animals.
Then, contact your government representatives and tell them how you feel.
